My husband and I went for a stroll in downtown Historic Franklin and stopped at the charming Franklin Tea shop. We found an extensive assortment of teas. Tea is my beverage of choice, and I am partial to loose leaf teas. The store has at least two varieties of Matcha, the green tea that is used for cooking. There is a "tea du jour" for sampling, also.
I was delighted when I discovered the store carried tea bricks. What is a tea brick? It is compressed tea that has been pressed into various shapes. In the past,Tea bricks were used as currency in China, Mongolia, Tibet, and Central Asia, and were often preferred over metal coins. The bricks could be eaten and brewed during times of hunger or illness.
I had seen tea bricks on line and was delighted to be able to purchase one locally. This was an impulse purchase, but what fun to have something so unique. Remember to support our local merchants. They appreciate us, and it helps the community. It is your civic duty, as well as fun.
